This modern-day parable delivers a profound biblical truth: Our Father wants to join us in our battles. He longs for us to tag Him in and tackle these struggles together. Alone, we falter and fail. But when we team up with our Heavenly Father, everything changes. The battle is His, and He secures the victory. In His strength, the enemy is defeated, and we are declared champions.

Witnesses testify with fervor, and even the accused knows he is guilty. When the sentence of death is handed down, an astonishing twist occurs while waiting in the room to take the guilty man to the electric chair: his attorney steps forward, switches clothes with the guilty and takes his place, and accepts the penalty of on his behalf. As the guilty man watches from behind a safe viewing box the attorney is electrocuted. While his accusers cheer on the death.

This modern-day parable delivers a timeless biblical truth: no one is beyond redemption. While we are undeniably guilty and deserving of judgment, Jesus willingly took our place. Trapped in sin and without hope, we faced the penalty of death, for “the wages of sin is death.” Yet, in His perfection, Jesus became our Redeemer, shedding His blood so that we might live.
